PURE is Vegan. But What Exactly is Vegan Wine?
Many people assume that wine is vegan by definition, since it’s made from grapes. However, that’s not always the case. Unfortunately, many wines are not vegan because animal products are often used during the clarification process. Ingredients like gelatin, fish glue, and egg whites are commonly employed to remove the particles that make the wine cloudy, which then bind to these agents and are filtered out.
So, is it possible to clarify wine in a vegan-friendly way?
Yes! Fortunately, there are excellent alternatives that don’t involve animal products.
PURE The Winery uses either a special ceramic filter or bentonite, a type of clay, to clarify its wines — all without the use of any animal-derived materials.
That’s why PURE The Winery bottles proudly display the vegan logo, located next to the nutrition label on the back. By the way, this nutrition label is also unique in the wine world. PURE The Winery chose to include a vegan logo and a nutrition label to be fully transparent about what’s in the wine — and just as importantly, what isn’t.
Delicious, uncomplicated VEGAN wine without unnecessary additives. And we’re proud of that!
